Need for research

The new draft EU Horizon Europe has a research and innovation (RIA) action entitled "Controlling infection on large passenger ships" (Topic HORIZON-CL5-2021-D6-01-12). The expected results of this action are given below:

For our third ARCSAR Innovation and Knowledge Exchange event we will be concentrating on innovations in training and education.

Many communities have good capabilities for local emergency response and have organized volunteers with local knowledge and valuable competence from various professions. There is a need to identify best practices of utilizing the voluntary and industry resources in the best possible way and to their optimal capacity.

Cruise ships might be the first on scene when there is an oil spill in the Arctic. How can they be equipped to be an oil spill response asset.

There is a need for research into the effects of a nuclear incident in the Arctic.

There is a need for research to understand Arctic pollution and how to respond to it, with a specific challenge for a skills assessment of new competences needed to deal with Arctic pollution incidents. This challenge can also be categorised with Personnel, Education and Training.

There exists a challenge for technology to allow enhanced communications through water in ANA conditions.

Understanding and mapping of survival faces the challenge of the gaps between current laboratory/mannequin tests and ANA region realities.
